Last week, I got to spend some time with the Tamron 20mm/2.8 lens for Sony E-mount. Tamron has released a few wide-angle prime lenses for Sony E-mount, and they’re very affordable. Currently, all three lenses (20mm, 24mm, and 35mm) each have a $50 in-store rebate, too!

The lenses all come with a pouch, lens hood, long warranty, and can all focus down to 1:2!

Over a few days, I wandered around Sheboygan, Cedarburg, Port Washington, and the Milwaukee River Greenway…up in Sheboygan, I went hiking at the Ellwood H. May Environmental Park…it was a nice park, and we got some crunchy, slippy hiking miles in. :)

Cedarburg made for some scenic suburban walking…an ultra-wide like the 20mm is useful for this kinda walking when you want to get an entire building in the picture, but only have the width of a street to back up!

This lens is small, lightweight, and will serve many folks quite well. It’s a great price-point, has a fast aperture, and is an easy way to get into prime lenses!

My last walk was along the Milwaukee River Greenway, between Capitol Dr. and Locust St. There’s some fun dirt trails right along the river, though during winter you’ve got to be more careful with all the ice and snow!

If you’ve been wanting to get a wide-angle lens for your Sony camera, you really must consider the 20mm from Tamron. The price is difficult to beat, and the lens is of good optic and build quality!
