March 2021: Canon EF 70–200/2.8 II
Canon’s 70–200/2.8 has always been well-regarded as one of THE professional lenses a photographer needs, if they’re a Canon user — and we have one in Used right now! And we ALSO have a 1.4x teleconverter that pairs up with it so darn nicely. Now, I have always been hesitant about using teleconverters, not trusting how they’d impact image quality, but after a weekend with this combo, I’d easily recommend it!
I took the lens/verter combo, on a Used Canon EOS-1DX mk1, to an artist’s walk out at the Forest Beach Migratory Preserve. The walk was sponsored by Gallery 224, of Port Washington, and the Ozaukee Washington Land Trust, who both coordinate the ARTservancy program.
I had the Tamron SP 35/1.4 along with me, too, but mainly used the 70–200/2.8 with the 1.4 teleconverter. As far as I can tell, there was no performance loss — speed of focus, image sharpness — all were great yet!
I also took the kit around Port Washington, and had a lot of fun — I’m not normally a telephoto guy, so reaching out to 280mm was new!
All of this gear — the EOS-1DX mk1, the EF L 70–200/2.8 II, and the 1.4X II Teleconverter — are all in our Used Department right now, and available for sale!
