March 2021: Winter with the Canon R6

Back in January, I got to spend some time with the Canon R6, one of Canon’s latest full-frame, mirrorless cameras. I got to use it with the Tamron 24–70/2.8 G1 lens, and the Canon EF 200mm/2.8 telephoto. I used the Control Ring adapter to mount these EF lenses onto this R-mount body.

I was really impressed with the performance of the camera, and especially with the lens adapter — the lenses performed as well as though they were native EF-R lenses!

Up in Port Washington, I photoed the raucous Lake Michigan, and its amazing waves! I always enjoy using TV mode (Time Value), to set the shutter speed myself, and let the camera choose the correct aperture for me.

As the sun set, fog and mist moved in, and the dusk was beautiful and moody.

A new day brought more sunshine, and some daredevil sledders!

I had a lot of fun with this combo of glass and camera. The 200mm/2.8 is a standout lens, and so much more lightweight than the 70–200/2.8. The G1 Tamron 24–70/2.8 might be a bit of an older lens, but it still focused fast enough and accurately enough for me — if you ever see it in our Used Dept, snatch it up! :)
