Dec 2021: Minolta MD 50/1.7 and 58/1.4 lenses
As many of you know, we are REALLY fond of mirrorless cameras at our store, and one of the reasons we like them so much is for how easy it is to adapt old lenses to them! Being able to use old manual focus lenses on modern cameras is such a boon, and has given new life to some classic glass!
Recently we played with an Olympus E-M1iii and three lenses…an Olympus 45mm/1.8, a Minolta MD 50mm/1.7, and a Minolta MD 58mm/1.4. With the Olympus 2x crop-factor, it made all these lenses into great portrait lenses.
All three lenses are sharp, but each DOES have a different character to them! I love that you can pick up either of the Minolta MD lenses for under $100. So, if you are looking for a lens that isn’t only sharp, but is sharp with CHARACTER, check out these Used lenses.
I also got to take these lenses out for a walk through Cedarburg…It seems like many people hesitate to use manual-focus lenses, thinking they may not be able to focus accurately or quickly enough, but using these older lenses on modern bodies, with focus-peaking and focus-magnification, is very easy.
We stock Fotodiox lens adapters at our store, and they come in a HUGE variety of combinations…Leica M to Nikon Z? Got it! Hasselblad to EOS R? Sure thing! Minolta MD to Olympus OMD? Dang straight! Canon FD to Sony E-mount? We’d be happy to help you! :)
If you are using a mirrorless camera, and want to enter the New Year trying something new, consider getting a Used manual focus lens and Fotodiox lens adapter! :)
